Celebrity Diets

Elizabeth II Queen of the United Kingdom
BREAKFAST: I respect the sacred tradition of tea time. Every morning I like to have Earl Grey tea with some milk and a plate of biscuits. As for my breakfast, I eat some porridge. Also, I enjoy fresh healthy fruit, like strawberries from my own garden, where I grow raspberries and gooseberries too!
LUNCH: When I have my afternoon tea, I usually ask for sandwiches from the kitchen with salmon, egg with mayonnaise, ham, mustard and cucumber. My favourite dessert is jam pennies. They are small English pastries with raspberry jam.
DINNER: In the evening I have some special, healthy food too. I like eating grilled fish with vegetables and some German wine.
As for my dessert, I prefer chocolate cake ‒ which I eat to the last piece.

Cristiano Ronaldo footballer
BREAKFAST: I like good food, even though I am a world-class athlete. I am a fan of big breakfasts with pastries, ham and cheese, and also fresh fruit. For my drink I enjoy a latte and a glass of juice — pear, apple or pineapple. Since I play football, I must drink a lot of liquids.
LUNCH: I try to eat simple food such as cereals, vegetables, and lots of fish during the day. In fact, I like to take sardines from the tin and put them on my bread. It is delicious!
DINNER: If I decide to eat out at restaurants, I often order steak and salad. But my absolute favourite dish is «Bacalhau à Brás», Portuguese dish, that I like to have for dinner. “Bacalhau” is made from fish, onions, and fried potatoes. For dessert, I really like chocolate and birthday cakes.

Gisele Bundchen supermodel
BREAKFAST: I wake up at 5:30 every morning, but I don’t start my days with a cup of coffee. I just have some hot water with lemon in it and do my exercises. It helps wake up my body. After that I have a bowl of cereal with green juice from fruit.
LUNCH: I prefer to eat scrambled eggs, avocado toast, coconut yogurt with fresh berries, or toast with butter and honey. I am a fan of fruit, because it is so good for our health!
DINNER: I love to make dinner that can be quick and healthy. For example, it is my favorite homemade recipe that includes broccoli, avocado, cereals, cherry tomatoes, and sweet potatoes.

The Cooking Masters

H = Host, B = Bill, C = Cindy

H: Good morning everybody and welcome to today’s edition of The Cooking Masters! May we have a huge round of applause for today’s contestants, Bill and Cindy. Hi Bill – so, do you enjoy cooking?
B: I absolutely adore it. Every evening I make the dinner with my family at home.
H: And what about you, Cindy?
C: Yes, I’m in love with cooking too. In fact, I cook every day, but my passion is cooking for my friends during the weekends.
H: Alright, so you both know the rules. In this bag there are seven ingredients, only seven ingredients. You have an hour to cook three dishes, a starter, the main course, and of course, a dessert. Also, apart from these seven ingredients, you can also use basic starter ingredients such as eggs, onions, salt, beans, pepper, etc. Okay. Are you, guys, ready? Let’s have a look into the bag. So today’s ingredients are… a duck, some bell peppers, a couple of onions, some rice, four apples, some garlic, and a lemon.
Okay, Bill and Cindy. You have three minutes to decide what to make and then we will see who is The Cooking Master!

1. How many ingredients are there in the bag?
2. What time do the contestants have to cook their dishes?
3. Try to name four of the basic ingredients they can use.

3.1 Listen to the second part and complete the dishes that Bill and Cindy made.

The Cooking Masters (the 2nd part)

H: Cindy and Bill, you have four more minutes, and I hope you are finishing your cooking masterpieces. Well, time is over, stop cooking, please, RIGHT NOW. So, Cindy, what did you make?
C: For the starter I cooked onion soup, for the main course there’s a roasted duck with apples and for dessert my favourite lemon pie.
H: These dishes look amazingly tasty. And you Bill?
B: I cooked a duck vegetable soup with pasta, then for the main course stuffed bell peppers, and for dessert apple strudel.
H: It also looks great. But now, let’s try your dishes.
(5 sec)
H: Mm, your dishes taste absolutely fantastic! My congratulations to both of you! I like your cooking masterpieces, but only one of you can become a winner ‒ and today it is…(2 sec) Cindy!!

3.2 And what are your favourite dishes? Tell about them using adjectives from the box.

fantastic good delicious sweet fast healthy tasty light fresh spicy

Ex:

1) My favourite food (dish) is Italian pizza. It’s so delicious and fantastic.
2) I like chicken soup, because it’s good and healthy for me.
3) I like to cook an apple pie for all my family. We like eating it with tea. It is so tasty.

*Послушай 4 спикеров, которые рассказывают о своей любимой еде и составь короткое описание того, что им нравится есть.

My favourite food

Speaker 1: When I was a teenager I liked Mexican food. But today I’m trying to eat something healthier. I prefer Chinese food with its rice, delicious rolls and even Peking roasted duck. I love different fruit so much, especially pineapple, and I also like grapes. But green apples are not very good. They taste too sour to me.
Speaker 2: I like American food as nothing else. I like French fries and hamburgers. They are my favorite dishes. But I know that eating French fries and hamburgers together is not so good for my health. That’s why I usually take a salad instead of French fries. All vegetables are great for me. If we talk about lunch… well, my favorite lunch place is not far from my university. They have one amazing hamburger shop called the Danish Burger. It has blue cheese inside. I love it!
Speaker 3: Do you know anybody who doesn’t like food? I don’t. There are a lot of tasty dishes in every national cuisine. I don’t know which dishes are the tastiest, because my taste in food always changes. One day I like some dessert and some time later I can change my opinion and go for Italian pizza. I think it’s wonderful that we have a choice and we can try so many dishes. But not all food is good for us. We should be careful about what we eat.
Speaker 4: Ukrainian food is very popular in Canada, and I really love it! We got lucky, because there is a nice comfortable Ukrainian restaurant nearby. There I feel like I am walking into my grandmother’s kitchen! My favourite dishes are borscht and perogies with sour-cream. I have never eaten anything tastier than that. I also like to order their homemade bread.

5.2 Listen again and match the sentences to the speakers.
