Время Present Simple (настоящее простое) используется для описания повседневных и повторяющихся действий. В этом уроке мы рассмотрим образование утвердительных (+), отрицательных (-), вопросительных (?) предложений в Present Simple для местоимений 3 лица единственного числа: he, she, it.
Для образования утвердительных предложений в Present Simple для местоимений he, she, it к глаголу-сказуемому добавляется окончание -s.

Образование утвердительных (+) предложений:

He eats fruit for lunch.
She likes chocolate.
This fish lives in the Black Sea.

Исключения:

Have – has
I have tea for breakfast. – He has tea for breakfast.

Do — does

They do their morning exercises every day. – My mother does her morning exercises every day.

Go — goes

We go for a walk every evening. – Mark goes for a walk every evening.

Для образования отрицания в Present Simple для местоимений he, she, it используется вспомогательный глагол does + not (doesn’t) – сокращение, при этом окончание -s глагола опускается.

Образование отрицательных (-) предложений:

He does not have tea for lunch. = He doesn’t have tea for lunch.

Spelling Rules

1. Most verbs take -s: I put – he puts, I clean – she cleans, we play – it plays.
2. Verbs ending in -ch, -sh, -ss, -x, -o take -es: catches, finishes, kisses, mixes, goes.
3. Verbs ending in consonant + у, drop the –у and take –ies: I try— he tries, we study – she studies.

Pronunciation Rules

[s] when the verb ends in [p], [t], [f], [k] sound: speaks, beats, laughs, stops.
[ιz], when the verb ends in [s], [ʃ], [tʃ], [ʤ], [z] sound: misses, washes, watches, changes, closes.
[z], when the verb ends in any other sound: plays, reads, runs.

Silvia is from Spain

I’m Silvia, I live in Spain and I work at school. I’m a teacher, I teach students and speak English every day at work. It’s a difficult job, but I like it very much. My students adore our English lessons, they like to think and speak English.

Gloria is from Brazil

I’m a receptionist in an office. I work for a big international company. I welcome people in English when they visit our company, I make calls and answer the phone in English as well. We all speak English at work.

Harry is from Brazil

I’m Harry and I’m a taxi driver. I work in New York. New York is a city for tourists and workers. When they visit this city, they speak English, so the language of my job is English.

The word why…? (почему/зачем) is used in questions and we give the answer for the reason by means of because… (потому что).

Example: Why does Gloria speak English? Because she works for an international company.
