Spelling rules for «-ing» forms:

  • most verbs take -ing (working)
  • verbs ending in -e-e + ing (driving)
  • verbs ending in -y → no changes (playing)
  • one vowel+one consonant → double consonant + ing (running).

Usage

To express likes and dislikes

I love going to hot countries.

Her dog likes running outside.

His uncle doesn’t like driving.

They hate working at night.

I don’t mind visiting your grandparents. (I don’t mind = It’s ok with me, I’m happy to do it)


Common mistakes

Maria doesn’t like cook.

We don’t mind to clean the room.
